My Henry
2003-08-23 - 6:58 a.m.

Bit of a random entry before I go to bed.

First - This made me giggle so I will share!

Little Backstory on my boy Henry. Two weeks before I moved in with Heidi and Rich, they found Henry outside in the snow, a little frozen kitty pop. Pretty much dead. So they took him in to the vet and the vet gave him shots and meds.

I moved in and Henry and I bonded. Henry is my baby and he got better. Since he followed me around all the time and slept in my bed, Heidi and Rich let me take him with me when I moved out in November of last year.

I love my Henry. He's my fuzzy little roomate. I'm very protective, probably overly so. I love him so much I worry about what kind of Mom I'll be if I get this attached to a CAT!

That said...

I am pretty sure my cat is insane. He's just plain weird!

You know how catnip is supposedly beloved by all cats as some kind of kitty narcotic? Yes well. Henry ignores it. Not that I'm trying to get my cat hopped up on cat nip or anything! -guilty smile-

I buy him toys and he is enarmored with a balled up tissue or a stray piece of newspaper. Hours on end he will chase and hunt and pounce on an old hairband. But my beautiful catnip mouse lays as a sentinel, guarding over his food dish. Ignored. Alone. Abandoned like a forgotten Neopet.

I regressed a bit this morning and had graham crackers and milk for breakfast. If you haven't had this self made cereal I shall lift my royalty fees and allow you to try it for no extra cost. Do it now! It's fun!

Anyway, Henry is a cat and he has an unnatural love of milk. I do recall milk not being good for cats so of course while he is all up in my personal space bubble I lean away.

And you know that scooty booty thing cats do when they have dirty butts? Well Henry doesn't do that for that reason. He does it when he is sitting next to me and wants to get closer without having to get up and move. It's the most hilarious thing!

He also will hunt and pounce on my finger if I hide it behind a cushion, under a blanket or a pillow. He knows it's my finger but he still humors me and goes for it.

Well the other morning I wiggled my finger from beneath my pillow and Henry ran to attack and missed and when Thunk! into the wall.

I picked him up to comfort him but I think I upset him more since I was laughing so hard my body was shaking.

And this morning I awoke to Henry sitting on my nightstand, facing me. Why is this noteworthy? Well! I had a cup with a straw in it. And Henry was sitting sucking on the straw! Like a little kid or something! Of course there are now cat chewy marks on it but it was a hoot and a half!

Henry also never meows unless he is sick or scared. He does this crazy chirp sound. I'll have to make a sound file of an example sometime. It's definitely something to hear!

Lastly, something very awesome happened yesterday.

Henry was winking at me all day and I looked closer and it appeared his eye was swollen shut. He'd been sneezing on and off during the day and meowing so I was sad to see he was sick.

I don't have money for vet bills and meds and I haaaaate seeing my baby suffer so I picked him up and put my hand over his eye.

Then - this may sound silly to some of you but wait.

Then I prayed and asked Jesus to heal him. I asked him to do me this favor. Because Henry can't pray for himself and well, he's a CAT.

So I prayed. And when I took my hand away, his eye was open, not a hint of swelling and I haven't heard him sneeze since! Weeee! Jesus is cool!

Speaking of cool, I need to turn down my ac because I have a cold puppy nose right now! So I will bid you a good day!
