I am SO subscriging to this dude's blog... Check out this entry he wrote during Palm Sunday..... each of the days this week, as our churches celebrate the move pivotal week in history, i'll be posting a devotional thought. check back each day as i progress through Jesus' last week in fully human form i'll never forget the loudest cheers i've ever heard. i was in 8th grade... a pro wrestling junkie in the golden age of professional wrestling. nobody could ever imagine anyone beating hulk hogan. i mean, we all knew it was fake, but everyone was a hulkamaniac anyway. no one cheered for the bad guys back then. the good guys always won in the end. and everyone knew that you better say your prayers and eat your vitamins, or hulkamania and the 24 inch pythons would run wild on you. my uncle took my cousin and i to see a taping of saturday night's main event. we had seen pro wrestling in person... but this was the immortal hulk hogan taking on sargeant slaughter. the tension and excitement just built as we waited through several matches to see the greatest of all time. and finally, the smoke began to fill the room... the music started blaring over the loud speaker... nothing could quite capture the excitement of the explosion of cheers as the immortal hulk hogan burst through curtains. he walked to the ring, shaking his finger and stopping for his signature poses. it surely couldn't get any better than this. flashbulbs snapped all over the stadium as everyone tried to get the perfect picture. and in the midst of all that commotion... all that excitement... the cacophony of adoration... the hulkster locked eyes with me. i can't prove it... and i'm sure dozens of people around me claimed the same thing... but i think he looked right at me. there couldn't have been a better entrance. there was one better. it required no music... no lights... no posing. just a man. just the Lord. working through the crowd who rushed to meet Him, Jesus rode a donkey. a colt that had never been ridden. this was God... He could have come in on a harley... floating on a cloud... surrounded by a visible army of angels. He could have created a wave through the desert and surfed into jerusalem, or wowed them with a 1968 shelby mustang. He could have been accompanied by lightning... thunder pouring forth from His voice. but it was a donkey. He needed no more than this lowly humble animal to enter the city in which He would soon claim His throne. and you know what? i can't prove it... and probably thousands of others will claim the same thing... but i know... He looked right at me.
