Sometimes I think it would be nice to live in another country. Our country is so busy. There are so many things trying to grab your attention. It's everywhere, all around us. Television, Billboards, Phonecalls, Emails, Ipods. Silence is a rare gold that one has to really dig to find. There is a missionary my church supports in Africa. He told us once that one of the best things about Africa is the lack of distraction. The pace is slower and the interupptions are fewer and that leaves time with your thoughts and time in the presence of God, truly getting to 'meditate on His word day and night.' He said the moment he got off the plane during a visit to the States, he felt the pulling. So many things trying to get between him and his alone time with God. The devil is sneaky. It's not always bad things that get in the way. It's just... things. You wake up with the best of intentions, but before you know it the day is over and you're too tired to get into that quiet space with God. God is so good. I found the book in the picture on the side a moment ago. I'll bet it's amazing...
God give me awareness to my preoccupation. Help me to ferociously set aside important quality time with You. Because without You I wither and die. In Jesus Name - Amen
